Who is Indectron?

With decades of experience, Indectron is a new kind of data centre

Shield House

Designed for 21st Century businesses, Shield House is a new IT infrastructure hub built to support every business sector with state-of-the-art data and communications technology.

Indectron is the brainchild of technology entrepreneurs, Andrew Bence and Keith Jones. Designed to meet the growing demand for scalable, reliable, on-demand colocation data centre services, Indectron has developed a brand-new state-of-the-art data centre situated in Barnwood, Gloucester.

“We have created one of the most resilient and connected data centres in the UK in a very accessible under serviced region giving organisations a platform to migrate existing on-premise rack deployments into or deploy new hybrid-cloud technologies connecting to global networks.” – Andrew Bence, Managing Director, Indectron

Shield House is a major redevelopment of a brownfield site in Barnwood into a brand-new colocation data centre. The site is within easy reach of the motorway network linking it to Bristol, Birmingham, Oxford, Swindon and Reading.

The 20,000 square foot high-tech facility utilises cutting edge cooling technology, heat management solutions alongside highly efficient uninterruptible power systems and other innovative technologies. Indectron has gained technical design awards for the development and become one of the most energy efficient data centres in the UK.

Uniquely, the data centre has capacity for 600 colocation racks and is developing Gloucestershire into a data hub of the UK by providing a protected environment for data and critical systems connected to a wide range of networks and cloud service providers.

The facility contains three data halls, with the possibility for each to be subdivided. The site is a high security facility and is guarded by 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Clients include private and public organisations, enterprises, service providers, media, education and healthcare companies.

“We are delighted to have delivered this intricate project giving clients a facility to provide innovative and flexible digital services. Customers can immediately benefit from its highly secure, efficient cooling and electrical infrastructure making it the heart of technology within the region.” – Keith Jones, Director & Co-Founder Indectron

Shield House is located between the Bristol, Bath and Great Malvern cyber technology clusters with its focus on being a regional facility with high technical resilience and connectivity. Conforming to data centre tiered certifications and international security standards, the new data hub will service the needs of hundreds of businesses with typical rack deployments of one to thirty racks while bringing high- technology employment to Gloucestershire.

Also, Shield House is on the UK’s national figure of eight fibre optic network. It offers a choice of carriers giving diverse connectivity services providing cost effective, high capacity and quality access to networks, cloud providers, Internet exchanges and customer locations worldwide.

Indectron’s intelligent design delivers enhanced environmental efficiencies and perfectly supports high density computing. With a technical space that is highly secure both physically and technically, the accredited facility is supported by resilience in design and operations.

With a communications heritage and a focus on security, Gloucestershire is an ideal location for Shield House as an accredited carrier neutral data centre.
